With a heavy heart, we share the passing of Patricia Ward, who left us peacefully at the age of 86. Patricia was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Patricia was born on May 2, 1938, in Chicago. While growing up in the city, her summers were spent in Lake Tomahawk, WI, where she developed a love for barefoot waterskiing, fishing, and relaxing in the woods. After completing high school and secretarial school, she married her high school sweetheart, which was the first of two moderately-successful marriages. She dedicated many years of her life working for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, advocating for the well-being of children and families. Upon retirement, Patricia moved to Galena, IL, to be closer to family. Her home became a canvas for her decorating passions, always filled with warmth and charm, while also being featured on the front page of the Gazette whenever the river flooded its bank
