Janice Kutsch, 83, of Galena, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Ennoble Manor in Dubuque, IA. The Furlong Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with services, which will be held later. She was born to Ernest and Dorothy Schumacher on September 11, 1940, in Galena. Janice was a 1958 graduate of Galena High School and received her Nursing license after attending Highland Community College. For many years, she worked as a lab technician and then as a nurse at the Galena-Stauss Nursing Home, where she retired. She had a love for antique dolls. Throughout her life, she collected and sold dolls and enjoyed shopping for them on eBay and taking trips to flea markets. Jan loved animals, especially her dog and faithful companion, Albie. She is survived by her brother, James Schumacher; brother-in-law, Jerry Kieffer; nephews Matt Schumacher and Paul (Heather) Kieffer; nieces Megan (Casey) Kaiser and Amy (Tim) Hiller and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
