John "Louie" Reitz, 67, of Galena, IL passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Mercy One, Dubuque, IA, with his sisters at his side. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. John was born September 4, 1956, in Hazel Green, WI, the son of Louis and Louise (Hoyer) Reitz. He attended Galena schools and served in the US Army, stationed in Germany, between 1974 and 1975. John enjoyed going to the casino, playing euchre, and stopping at Mulgrew's in East Dubuque for chili dogs. He worked at Lemfco Foundry, Galena until his retirement. John is survived by three sisters, Kay (Richard Miller) Temperly of Galena, Lynn (Lee) Foecking of Highland Beach, FI, and Bette (Curtis) Spensley of Geneseo, IL, a brother-in-law, Eric Einsweiler, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
